Application engineer

I am a dynamic and active person with a strong interest in all that involves the engineering of the medical and surgical workflow. I have started to study Biomedical Engineering because I was fascinated by advanced prosthetics and robotics solutions to enhance people's quality of life. I think of myself as a proactive person, ready to overcome my limits and to always improve my knowledge. Above all, I think of myself as a strong team player: I've played water polo at a semi-professional level for a long time trying to conciliate sport and study necessities (and now work necessities).

What advice would you give to a young professional interested in following your steps?
I would say them to always keep an eye on developments and the latest engineering techniques as well as to remain capable of solve and diagnose little mechanical and electrical issues on common devices. To really focus on their knowledge and their expertise to extrapolate solutions from issues. Another important characteristic of an application engineer is to be able to speak with a surgeon in order to have a constructive exchange. He needs to trust you and you need to understand his need and transmit them to the development team. To do so, what you really need is to stay focused on the last surgery techniques in the field you’re more interested in. To do so, there is a lot of online material on YouTube and other dedicated websites (ex. VuMedi)
